Description
This Smith & Wesson is an early .32-20 Hand Ejector Model of 1902, 1st Change, chambered for the .32 Winchester Center Fire cartridge, also known as .32-20 Winchester or .32 WCF. Serial number 12547 falls above the approximately 1–5311 range assigned to the earlier First Model and within the succeeding Model of 1902 production period. The visible design—including the round-butt K-frame, under-barrel ejector-rod locking lug and early fixed-sight configuration—supports that identification.
The barrel is roll-marked “.32 Winchester CTG.”, an early marking used before Smith & Wesson transitioned to “.32 WCF CTG” and later “.32-20 CTG.” The revolver features a six-shot swing-out cylinder, double-action/single-action operation, fixed sights and black checkered S&W-logo stocks. The barrel appears to measure approximately six inches, although an exact measurement should be taken before publishing the final specification.
This example has a bright polished finish with visible scratches, freckling, handling marks and areas of finish loss. Several edges and markings appear softened, suggesting the revolver may have been polished and refinished at some point. The grips also show age-related wear.
